Press & News 2007/2008 Season News Philadelphia Theatre Company Receives Three Million Dollars from the City of Philadelphia

E. Gerald Riesenbach, President of the Board of Directors, and Sara Garonzik, Producing Artistic Director, accepted the grant from the City at a ceremony at City Hall today. In acknowledging Mayor Street's role in promoting the arts in Philadelphia, Riesenbach said: "Mayor Street's vision of a City investment in Arts and Culture has created a wonderful opportunity for all of the Arts and Cultural organizations in the City. His execution of that vision will be his legacy to the City of Philadelphia and to all of its citizens. Philadelphia Theatre Company is pleased and proud to be a part of that." "Organizations like Philadelphia Theatre Company are critical partners in the City's efforts to attract new businesses, residents and visitors with cultural amenities that enrich all of our lives. We recognize the valuable role PTC plays in our economy and are pleased to be able to provide them assistance to complete their new facility," said Mayor John F. Street. Philadelphia Theatre Company's Suzanne Roberts Theatre will open in October 2007 with the world premiere of Terrence McNally's Unusual Acts of Devotion starring Kathy Bates. PTC will kick off the ribbon-cutting of its new home with a Community Open House on Sunday, October 21, 2007.
