The Center for Literacy, in collaboration with Philadelphia Theatre Company, is hosting Reading Writers, an evening of literary magic featuring Barrymore Award winning actors Jen Childs, Pearce Bunting and Cathy Simpson reading Flannery O'Connor (Everything That Rises Must Converge), T.C. Boyle (The Descent of Man), and Zora Neale Hurston (Spunk). Directed by Tom Teti, the event is being held at the Plays and Players Theater at 1714 Delancey Street, Philadelphia on Monday, October 30, 2006, 7:30-9:00pm. Proceeds benefit the thousands of adults, youth and families that CFL serves annually. Tickets are $50 each. Call 215.474.1235 x226 for information, or visit www.centerforliteracy.org. The Center for Literacy (CFL) is the nation's oldest and largest community-based nonprofit literacy provider. Since 1968, CFL has provided literacy services to adults, youth, and families throughout the greater Philadelphia area, and is considered a leader in the field. CFL offers adult basic and literacy education, family literacy, out-of-school youth programs, workforce initiatives, GED programs, an adult diploma program, and other initiatives through its network of over 100 learning centers.
