2009/2010 Season Golden Age
WORLD PREMIERE By Terrence McNally Directed by Austin Pendleton January 22 - February 14, 2010 Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally explores the exquisite and passionate world of opera with Golden Age, set backstage at the 1835 Paris premiere of Vincenzo Bellini's final opera, I Puritani. PTC has partnered with McNally for the world premieres of Master Class, Some Men, and last season's Unusual Acts of Devotion. Following its run in Philadelphia, the PTC production will move to the Kennedy Center. Best enjoyed by patrons age 15+. "An Impressive Achievement!" –Talkin' Broadway "Excellent Cast!" –Philadelphia Inquirer Golden Age is a recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award. This production is also funded by The Pew Center for Arts and Heritage through the Philadelphia Theatre Initiative, and has been produced with the assistance of The Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays.
